Screen changers have become standard equipment for new EVA extrusion lines in recent years. However it is also possible to integrate a screen changer into existing equipment. Besides impact on extrusion process itself the surrounding structure can be challenging. The extent of foundation work for instance has influence on overall down time. In case that piles and beams interfere with the new equipment creative solutions need to be found. Process wise, pressure drop calculations need to be done to ensure that the existing motor and gearbox can cover the new task. This presentation identifies several points which should be considered during a screen changer retrofit.
