Description
"The implementation of any upgrades to an operating plant requires careful planning to minimise the duration and disruption of the shutdown / turnaround. Major upgrades provide greater benefits over the long-term, but frequently require increased site activity during the shutdown. ECI Group has developed a number of technology packages to upgrade and debottleneck HPPE facilities. These technology offerings have been designed from the outset to optimize the scope and duration of work that must be undertaken during a plant shutdown. As part of this consideration for optimization, ECI Group has developed a modular HP piping/tubing approach to maximize the amount of work that can be done off-site, resulting in increased safety, lower costs, and a much shorter shutdown duration. In addition, the design period can be reduced via a “leveraged design approach” which reduces the variable design parameters and can be quickly and efficiently tailored as required to the individual client’s needs. We present a case study from a recent project in which ECI Group designed and developed a number of significant plant upgrades using this modular approach, and then oversaw the successful implementation within the client’s planned shutdown window.
