"Autoclave reactors for the production of LDPE and EVA are used for more than 60 years worldwide. There are different licensors on the market and guess 120 autoclaves are still in operation. Sizes can vary between 250 and more than 2,000 l with operating pressures between 1,000 to 2,500 bar. The TOP and BOTTOM of the autoclave have to be sealed. Most of the time a wavering is used. Due to the age, ambient or operating conditions, the sealing geometry and surface can get damaged and needs to be re-machined. Since autoclaves are big and heavy, refurbishing at site would be the best solution. This presentation is the story about a recently carried out re-machining job with mobile flange facing machine at plant site. "
